SIP, Europe’s leading manufacturer of agricultural machinery, has installed over 1,500 metres of Hermi cable trays in its state-of-the-art SIP Center – an advanced business, exhibition, and training facility located in Šempeter, Slovenia. Within this space, the cable trays serve as a particularly ingenious element of the building’s technical infrastructure. The white Hermi cable trays are strategically integrated into the centre’s bright, modern design, ensuring the efficient and safe distribution of electrical and other installation cables. Their colour blends seamlessly with the architecture, contributing to a clean and minimalist aesthetic. In addition to the cable trays, the Hermi lightning protection system safeguards both the business and production areas.

Both standard Hermi and Fast Klick® cable tray series were used throughout the installation. The Fast Klick® system enables rapid assembly without the need for bolts or special tools, significantly reducing installation time while maintaining high mechanical stability. The trays used in the SIP Center were powder-coated white and supplied in various widths (ranging from 100 to 400 mm), enabling optimal cable management across different zones – from offices to exhibition areas.
Hermi Fast Klick® cable trays enable quick and secure fastening without bolts or special tools.
To ensure stable and flexible installation, Hermi load-bearing components were used, including NKP-VN hanging brackets (88704109, 88704110), NKP-SNT wall brackets (88704143), and NKP-C profiles (88707115). These components were also powder-coated white for visual consistency within the SIP Center. To join standard and cut cable trays, more than 200 Hermi Fast Joint® connecting elements (88701451, 88701452) were used, ensuring clean, mechanically secure, and visually refined joints.
NKP-SNT wall brackets were used to mount the cable trays to the wall.
In SIP’s production facilities, galvanised Hermi cable trays of various dimensions were installed. These trays offer high resistance to mechanical loads and corrosion, making them ideal for industrial environments where cables require additional protection. In certain areas, cable tray covers were also added to shield the cables from dust and other environmental factors.

The Hermi lightning protection system also plays a vital role in ensuring the technical safety of the building. On the flat roof sections, SON17 A (117220) roof fasteners – designed specifically for flat roofs with PVC membranes – were used for distributing the round lightning conductors. These fasteners provide secure attachment without damaging the roofing and help ensure the longevity of the system.

Air-termination rods protect small air-conditioning units, light domes, and other rooftop elements.
For areas where the lightning conductor runs along the metal roof edging, SON04 A (429) roof fasteners were used, as they are well-suited for attaching to metal surfaces. Additionally, LOP air-termination rods with LOP-PB2/M16 (301492) concrete bases and PBP350 (301490) protective pads were installed. These rods are specifically designed to protect rooftop devices – such as small air-conditioning units or skylights – for which the conventional lightning protection installation passing through the roof does not provide adequate protection. By installing air-termination rods, the protected area is extended to cover all devices on the roof that cannot be effectively protected by conductors alone.

The comprehensive use of Hermi cable trays and lightning protection systems has established a high technical standard at the SIP Center and across the company. The project combines functionality, safety, and architectural aesthetics, showcasing how modern industrial and commercial buildings can be both aesthetically sophisticated and perfectly adapted to the specific requirements of the space. The SIP Center was also honoured with a gold award in the Celje Regional Chamber of Commerce’s selection of the best innovations in the Celje region.
