Residential Complex in Vienna
Vienna, Austria
A new residential complex comprising two buildings and approximately 80 luxury apartments is being built in Vienna.
Its technical infrastructure must be designed to ensure the long-term safety, efficiency and reliability of the electrical installation systems. The large number of electrical cables, communication and data cabling, security systems and other building services equipment requires a well-planned, clearly organised and reliable cable management system.
Already during the planning phase, contractor Bobar KG opted for Hermi Fast Klick® cable trays together with the corresponding Hermi support and connection elements. The decisive factors in selecting the solution were fast installation, high-quality and durable materials, adequate load-bearing capacity, and sales and project support throughout all phases of implementation. The installation of a Hermi lightning protection system is also planned for the next phase of the project.
More than 300 metres of 500 mm wide Fast Klick® cable trays were used for the cable routes in the residential buildings.
Challenge: Technically demanding cable routing
Cable routing is essential for the safe and efficient operation of the technical infrastructure. The cable routes must allow electrical and other cables to be arranged safely and efficiently, while also ensuring accessibility during installation and maintenance, and providing adequate load-bearing capacity for the expected loads.
More than 300 metres of 500 mm wide Hermi Fast Klick® cable trays (88750035) were installed, allowing a large number of electrical and other cables to be routed in an orderly manner. In addition, 200 mm wide Hermi Fast Klick® cable trays (88750032) were also used.
Hermi Fast Klick® cable trays are designed for simple and fast installation. The trays are connected using a click system, without additional connecting elements or screw fittings. The connection between two trays is made in three steps, helping to speed up work on site while ensuring a mechanically stable joint between individual elements.
Installing cable trays on ceilings and walls
More than 500 NKP-DH 57 hanging brackets and NKP-SNT 510 wall brackets were used in total for the installation of Fast Klick® cable trays.
ZP protective caps close or cover the open ends of the brackets.
Various Hermi support and fastening elements were used to install the cable trays on ceilings and walls. One of the key components was the welded NKP-DH 57 hanging bracket (88718984), designed for ceiling-mounted cable tray installation. NKP-SNT 510 wall brackets (88704145), adapted to the width of the cable trays, were fixed to it. More than 500 brackets were used in total. NKP-VE 01 DH57 connecting elements (88707331) were also used to increase the load-bearing capacity of the NKP-DH hanging brackets and NKP-SNT wall brackets.
The ends of the hanging brackets were closed with ZP-DH57 protective caps (88706507). These caps cover the ends of the brackets or cable tray profiles, reducing the risk of injury to people or damage to cables at exposed edges, while giving the installation a neat and professional appearance. The protective elements are made of plastic and are adapted to individual products from the Hermi cable tray range.
Bends, side branches and add-on tee elements for an orderly cable management system
In this new residential building, the cable routes had to be adapted to the installation layout as well as to the ceiling and wall lines within the building. The contractors used elements for changes of direction, bends, and vertical and horizontal branches.
PKP-KK 60 bend elements (88701460), suitable for all cable tray widths, were used to create 90° bends or side branches. For the 500 mm wide trays, PKP OE 60/500 add-on tee elements (88701182) were used for vertical and horizontal branches, together with PKP-KO 60/500 45° bends (88701165), PKP-KO 60/500 90° bends (88701135) and PKP-SO 60/500 side branches (88701145).
KP-PR 60 barriers (88700109) were installed in the cable trays to separate electrical cables from other cables. They allow the cables to be arranged more clearly and help reduce the risk of electromagnetic interference. This solution is particularly important where different types of power, communication and control cables are routed in the same cable tray.
The installation of Hermi Fast Klick® cable trays and the corresponding fastening elements resulted in a clearly arranged and stable cable management system that remains accessible for future maintenance.
Bends, side branches, cross-overs and other support and connecting elements s allow the cable routes to be adapted to the ceiling and wall line.
