Hermi Multi Flat for a nearly 1 MW solar power plant in Bihać
Bihać, Bosnia and Herzegovina
A nearly 1 MW solar power plant was installed on the roof of Bišće Park retail park in Bihać, one of the larger retail parks in north-western Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The modular Hermi Multi Flat system was selected as the mounting system, enabling fast installation of the substructure, secure fixing of the photovoltaic modules and appropriate ballasting. The system provides a stable basis for the long-term, uninterrupted operation of the photovoltaic system.
The solar power plant represents an important step towards more efficient energy use at the retail park, which will cover part of its energy needs with its own green electricity. The project investor is ANH Capital Investment d.o.o. from Bihać, while the contractor was Tirol d.o.o..
The Hermi Multi Flat mounting system provided a solid foundation for the nearly 1 MW solar power plant on the roof of Bišće Park retail park.
The mounting system is the foundation of the solar power plant
In solar power plant projects, attention is often focused on the choice and output of the photovoltaic modules, while less attention is given to the mounting system that supports the entire system. It must provide mechanical stability, appropriate load distribution across the roof surface, and resistance to wind, snow and other weather impacts, while minimising unnecessary interference with the roof covering. In a nearly 1 MW solar power plant, where the number of installed components runs into the thousands, the mounting system must be clearly arranged, repeatable and reliable in the long term.
Multi Flat mounting system
The Multi Flat mounting system structure on the retail park consists of 2,300 SOL-N41 front fasteners and 2,300 SOL-N42 back fasteners.
The Hermi Multi Flat mounting system, designed for solar power plants on flat roofs, was used for the installation of the photovoltaic modules. The structure is based on SOL-P40 mounting profiles (88000800). Almost 3,500 metres of mounting profiles were installed on the roof, with 550 SOL-S40 longitudinal connecting elements (88000804) used to extend them.
More than 2,300 SOL-N41 front fasteners (88000821) were installed. These are bolted into the SOL-P40 profile, while the modules are fixed directly to the fastener using clamps. The same number of SOL-N42 back fasteners (88000822) was used for modules installed at a 10° tilt. The selected fasteners are suitable for south-facing as well as east-west photovoltaic module layouts.
Fixing the photovoltaic modules
Almost 5,000 end and middle clamps were used in total to fix the modules.
Ballasting without unnecessary interference with the roof covering
SOL-PRL210 protective pads (88000861), designed for the SOL-P40 profile, and SOL-PB concrete bases were used to ensure the stable positioning of the mounting system. In total, more than 2,400 concrete bases with protective pads were installed, while SOL-P40 BRF2 ballast roof fasteners (88000902) were used for additional fastening of the ballast.
This configuration enables appropriate load distribution across the roof surface and ensures stable positioning of the mounting system without unnecessary interference with the roof covering.
SOL-S02B HEX end clamps (88000326), designed for modules with a 30 mm frame height, and SOL-S01 C middle click clamps (88000661), suitable for modules with a frame height of 30–33 mm, were used to fix the photovoltaic modules. In total, almost 5,000 end and middle clamps were used for module fixing.
Almost 5,000 end and middle clamps were used in total to fix the modules.
In larger solar power plants, precise installation and the repeatability of the modular system are important both for the stability of the entire structure and for fast, efficient installation.
Orderly cable routing with KPM mesh cable trays
Hermi KPM mesh cable trays with covers were used for orderly cable routing.
In a photovoltaic power plant, clear cable routing is important in addition to the mounting system. KPM mesh cable trays, 100 mm high and 200 and 300 mm wide (88201162, 88201163), were used for cable installation. KP covers in the corresponding widths (88700152, 88700153) were installed on the trays.
The covers were fixed with PKP-SPM1 clamps (88201207), while the dedicated SP01 clamp (88201200) was used to connect the KPM mesh cable trays to each other.
The Hermi Multi Flat mounting system and its corresponding components provided a stable basis for the long-term operation of the nearly 1 MW solar power plant on the roof of Bišće Park retail park.
