Yaskawa robot factory

The Japanese corporation Yaskawa, the globally largest manufacturer of industrial robots, opened their first European robot factory in Kočevje.
The 11,000-square-metre factory will cover about 80% of European demand for their Motoman industrial robots, which is their most popular product line. The value of the investment is EUR 25 million.

Protection of potentially explosive areas of the factory
There are areas on the roof of the building where an explosion (Ex zone) could occur in the event of a lightning strike. These areas are protected by an insulated lightning protection system, which features 68 LOP5.0 lightning rods with a height of 5 metres and 12 insulated IZO45 supporting post with a height of 4.5 metres. As it was not possible to achieve an adequate separation distance from the protected devices, an insulated ISVH lightning conductor was used, which prevents the possibility of dangerous sparks or skipping to metal parts or devices. The mesh and down conductors feature 2,500 metes of conductors.
